Jivamukti Open classes welcome everyone, as it is open to practitioners of all levels.

Every Open Class is creatively designed by the teacher. It incorporates the five tenets of Jivamukti Yoga: shastra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahimsa (kindness), nada (music), dhyana (meditation) and is supported by chanting, breath awareness, flowing Vinyasa sequences, hand-on assists, alignment exploration, and spiritual teachings drawn from the Focus of the Month essay. Uplifting eclectic music and creative playlists plays an integral role. Watch on Youtube.

Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior classes are designed for busy people who only have an hour to practice. The class is fast paced and invigorating and the structure is a fixed set sequence instructed in a vinyasa style. It is a fully balanced class, which includes asana warm-up, chanting, setting of intention, surya namaskar, standing poses, backbends, forward bends, twists, inversions, meditation and relaxation. The teacher focuses on keeping the pace moving and does not stop to give spiritual discourses or individual tips. Since the asana sequence is always the same, a student will pick it up quite quickly after only a couple of classes. This class is not suitable for complete beginners. Watch on Youtube.

‘Vinyasa’ means conscious placement. Intelligent sequencing of postures and the integration of breath and movement through awareness are the key components of this practice. By way of breath, the mind and the body become one and the past and future rest in the eternal present. Vinyasa yoga is about connection. As we place our bodies in special ways and unite with our breath, we realize our interconnectedness with all beings and our Oneness.

Grow roots to rise. In the Hatha Yoga classes the focus will be on grounding yourself through a slow paced flow. The slow pace will move you gently from pose to pose, and give you time to explore the poses with a stable foundation and with a proper alignment.
It’s an all level class. The proper alignment will make it safe for beginnings and as a more advanced practitioner, you will experience the poses on a deeper and more grounded level.
The classes will provide you with a good stretch and strengthening your body.
The flow element will keep you aware and let you connect with your breath. Through the breath and slow movement you will calm you mind.
The classes will end with a pranayama (breathing-exercise) practice and meditation.

Yin yoga is deep and divine inner practice of long held seated postures that looks to release tension in the connective tissues of the body, to balance the energetic system, increase flexibility and allow us to look deep within. Yin calls on one to observe, allow and surrender to the sensations and emotions that are released from deep inside the body by staying connected to a deep breath, a steady mind and a courageous heart. By cultivating a deep meditative state, one can rest in their oneness and light. Yin is suitable for all levels and a beautiful compliment to all styles of yoga.

MEDITATION – Free For All!

The Jivamukti method of meditation is a mantra form of meditation, instructed in three steps: Choose your seat, Be still and Focus. The practitioner is instructed to align the silent repetition of the mantra with the incoming and out-going breath.

The class begins with Sanskrit chanting to purify the atmosphere, followed by detailed meditation instruction. The actual sitting time for the meditation practice is usually 20 minutes and is followed by closing prayers. No prior experience in meditation is required. The class is open to all who have a sincere desire to learn a simple, yet effective way to quiet and calm their minds and go deeper into the meaning and relevance behind the various aspects of the Yoga practice.

Build strength, balance and flexibility while focusing on the foundational postures of yoga. This class is ideal for newer students and those wishing to get back to the basics. All levels welcome.

In Fundamentals Class we emphasize alignment. Students are taught safe techniques and “how to do” asanas as well as the use of props. The Fundamentals Class provides the underlying structure to help a student be able to eventually enter into an Open class intelligently and safely. Watch on Youtube.
